- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and spread the frozen tater tots on a baking sheet in a single layer. Bake according to package instructions, approximately 25–30 minutes, or until they turn golden brown and crispy.
- Combine the ground beef in a mixing bowl with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and dried minced onion. Mix until just combined. Form small patties slightly larger than the tater tots, about 1-inch thick.
- Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add a drizzle of cooking oil. Cook the patties for about 2–3 minutes on each side until they are nicely browned and cooked to your desired doneness.
- Place a mini square of cheddar cheese on top of each patty and cover the skillet with a lid for about 1–2 minutes to allow the cheese to melt.
