Ingredients

  • 8 ounces spaghetti or fettuccine
  • 1 pound flank steak sliced thin against the grain
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes adjust to taste
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1/2 cup bell peppers sliced (any color)
  • 1/2 cup snap peas trimmed
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 green onions sliced (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds for garnish, optional

Method

  1. Cook the pasta according to package instructions in a large pot of salted boiling water. Drain and set aside, reserving 1/2 cup of pasta water.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the sliced flank steak and season with salt and pepper. Cook for about 3-4 minutes until browned, then remove from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add minced garlic and red pepper flakes. Sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Add soy sauce, honey, and rice vinegar to the skillet, stirring to combine. Bring to a simmer.
  5. Add the bell peppers and snap peas to the skillet, cooking for about 2-3 minutes until they are tender-crisp.
  6. Return the cooked steak to the skillet, along with the drained pasta. Toss everything together, adding reserved pasta water a little at a time until the desired sauce consistency is reached.
  7. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary. Serve immediately, garnished with sliced green onions and sesame seeds if desired.

Notes

  • For a milder dish, reduce the amount of red pepper flakes or omit them entirely.
  • You can also substitute the flank steak with chicken or shrimp for a different protein option.
  • For added flavor, consider marinating the steak in the soy sauce and honey mixture for 30 minutes before cooking.
