For the Glaze
  • 1/4 cup golden syrup Honey or agave syrup can be used.
  • 50 g butter Adds a rich finish.
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar

Method
 

Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 170°C (340°F) and prepare a 20cm (8-inch) round cake tin.
  2. In a large bowl, sift together the dry ingredients.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the wet ingredients until smooth.
  4. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture and fold in diced pears.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared tin and bake for 35-40 minutes.
  6. Prepare the glaze in a saucepan over low heat until smooth and dissolved.
  7. Apply the glaze once the cake has cooled for 10 minutes by poking holes into the top.
