  • 2 tbsp Brown Sugar Honey or maple syrup can substitute.
  • 2 cloves Garlic (grated) Fresh is preferable.
  • 1 tbsp Ginger (grated) Fresh is better.
  • 1/2 cup Breadcrumbs Gluten-free options available.
  • 1 large Egg Flax egg can be a vegan alternative.
  • 2 tbsp Green Onions (chopped) Can substitute with chives.
For the Sauce
  • 2 tbsp Cornstarch Arrowroot or potato starch can work.
  • 1/4 cup Canola Oil Any neutral oil can be used.
For Garnish
  • 2 tbsp Sliced Green Onion Optional but recommended.

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, Shaoxing wine, soy sauce, chili flakes, brown sugar, garlic, and ginger. Mix until sticky and well blended.
  2. Incorporate breadcrumbs, egg, and green onions. Mix thoroughly and form into 24 equal-sized meatballs.
  3. Heat canola oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook meatballs for 5-7 minutes, flipping until browned.
  4. Remove excess fat from skillet, add sauce mixture, and cook for about 2 minutes while stirring.
  5. Make cornstarch slurry with water, then stir into skillet. Cook for 1-2 minutes until sauce thickens.
  6. Serve meatballs hot over rice, garnished with sliced green onions.
