Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Start by thinly slicing your fresh apples and sharp cheddar cheese, about 1/8-inch thick. Soak dried cranberries in hot water if firm. Gather the sourdough bread, butter, and optional herbs.
  2. Spread unsalted butter on one side of each slice of sourdough bread evenly.
  3. On the unbuttered side of one slice, layer sharp cheddar cheese, followed by sliced apples and dried cranberries. Add another layer of cheese, then top with the other slice of bread, buttered-side facing out.
