Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef 80/20 blend
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 8 ounces fresh mushrooms sliced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 1 cup arugula or spinach
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh chives chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method

  1. In a medium bowl, combine ground beef, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Form into 4 equal patties.
  2. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add olive oil and sliced mushrooms. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes until mushrooms are tender and browned. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, cook the burger patties for about 4-5 minutes on one side. Flip the patties, top each with a slice of Swiss cheese, and cook for another 3-4 minutes until the cheese is melted and the burgers reach your desired doneness.
  4. While the burgers are cooking, prepare the creamy herb sauce by mixing mayonnaise, sour cream, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, parsley, chives, salt, and pepper in a small bowl until well combined.
  5. To assemble, place a burger patty on the bottom half of each bun. Top with sautéed mushrooms, a handful of arugula or spinach, and a generous spoonful of the creamy herb sauce. Place the top half of the bun on each burger.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, try adding crispy bacon on top of the burger.
  • Swap the Swiss cheese for blue cheese for a different taste.
  • Grill the burgers instead of pan-frying for a smoky flavor.
