Steps
- Begin by pressing the tofu to remove excess moisture. Wrap tofu in a kitchen towel, place a heavy object on top, and let sit for about 15-20 minutes.
- While pressing, arrange three bowls for breading: one with all-purpose flour, one with plant-based milk, and one with panko breadcrumbs.
- Coat each tofu slice in flour first, then dip in plant-based milk, and finally press into panko breadcrumbs until fully coated.
- Heat oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat (around 350°F). Fry the breaded tofu pieces for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Drain the cooked tofu on paper towels. Serve drizzled with tonkatsu sauce or on the side for dipping.
