Step-by-Step Instructions for Jack-O’-Lantern Calzones
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface to about ¼-inch thickness. Cut out 6 to 8 circles.
  3. Carve spooky or silly faces on half of the dough circles with a sharp knife.
  4. On the uncarved circles, spread a thin layer of tomato sauce, then add mozzarella and your chosen toppings.
  5. Place the carved circles on top, press down to seal, and crimp the edges with a fork.
  6. Beat the egg and brush over the tops of the calzones for a golden-brown finish.
  7. Bake the calzones for 15 to 18 minutes until puffed and golden. Watch for aroma to indicate doneness.
  8. Let them cool for 2 to 3 minutes before serving warm.
