Step-by-Step Instructions for Christmas Sausage Rolls
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare your baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium skillet over medium heat, add 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Once hot, sauté ½ cup of finely diced onion and 1 minced garlic clove for about 3-4 minutes until they become translucent and fragrant. Remove from heat and let cool slightly before combining with the other filling ingredients.
  3. Roll out thawed puff pastry to about ¼ inch thick and cut into rectangular sheets, approximately 4 inches wide and 6 inches long.
  4. Place the sausage filling along one edge of each pastry rectangle and carefully roll it over the filling, tucking in the edges and sealing with a fork.
  5. Slice each roll into bite-sized pieces and brush the tops with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
  6. Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until they are puffed up and golden brown.
  7. Let the rolls cool for a few minutes before serving, and consider pairing them with a dipping sauce.
