- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, ground cinnamon, and nutmeg (if using).
- In another bowl, melt the unsalted butter and whisk together with buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Gradually combine the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, stirring until just blended with some lumps.
- Mix brown sugar, granulated sugar, and ground cinnamon in a small bowl for the topping.
- Pour half of the batter into the loaf pan, sprinkle some cinnamon sugar topping, pour the remaining batter, and top with more cinnamon sugar.
- Bake for 50-60 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
