Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips optional

Method

  1. Warm up your waffle iron as per the manufacturer's instructions.
  2. In a spacious bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt, whisking until evenly blended.
  3. In another bowl, whisk the melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract together until smooth.
  4. Gradually incorporate the wet mixture into the dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined; fold in chocolate chips if desired.
  5. Lightly coat the waffle iron with cooking spray or oil.
  6. Pour an appropriate amount of batter onto the iron, covering the surface adequately (1/2 to 3/4 cup depending on the size of your waffle iron).
  7. Close the lid and cook for about 4-5 minutes, or until the waffle is firm with a hint of crispness.
  8. Carefully extract the waffle and repeat with the remaining batter.
  9. Serve warm with toppings like whipped cream, ice cream, or fresh berries.
