For the Filling

  • 2 cloves minced garlic Adjust to taste.
  • 4 tablespoons softened unsalted butter For the garlic butter mixture.
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley Chopped, or substitute with chives.

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and yeast. Whisk until well incorporated.
  2. Make a well in the center and add warm milk, melted butter, and warm water. Stir gently until combined.
  3. Add the egg and mix thoroughly until the dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for about 1 hour.
  6. Combine softened butter, minced garlic, and parsley in a small bowl to make the garlic filling.
  7. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a muffin tin.
  8. Roll the risen dough into a 1/4 inch thick rectangle.
  9. Spread the garlic butter mixture on the dough and sprinkle with cheeses.
  10. Roll the dough into a log and slice into 12 pieces.
  11. Place the pieces upright in the muffin cups, cover and let rise for 20 minutes.
  12. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  13. Let cool for 5 minutes in the pan before transferring to a wire rack.
