- ¾ cup unsalted butter, softened
- ¾ cup brown sugar, packed
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup cream cheese, softened
- ½ cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for cream cheese filling)
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon water (for egg wash)
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.
- In another bowl, mix the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Roll out half of the cookie dough on a lightly floured surface into a rectangle about ¼ inch thick.
- Spread half of the cream cheese mixture over the dough rectangle.
- Fold the dough in half lengthwise and cut into strips about 1 inch wide.
- Twist each strip a few times and place on the prepared baking sheet.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and water to create an egg wash. Brush the tops of the twists with the egg wash.
- Repeat steps 7-11 with the remaining dough and cream cheese mixture.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
